This is a YouTube video titled "Some students avoid this because it is hard #shorts" featuring Lauren Bateman discussing guitar playing techniques, specifically the use of a guitar pick versus fingers, and encouraging students to practice with the pick despite initial difficulties.
I have a number of students who avoid this because it's hard. The guitar pick. I know it's awkward in the beginning and I have a lot of students like Lauren. Can I just use my thumb? I'd rather use my fingers. And while I also love using my fingers, there is a time and a place for the pick. The pick. You can get a lot more accents to it, even for strumming.
Alright. You can get a lot more out of the pick than you can your fingers. And I recommend listen if you prefer your fingers. Awesome. Do that. But do not give up on the pick because it's hard. It is a skill you are going to want to have. Put in five minutes of practice with the pick every practice session and then you can use your fingers for the rest. But keep pushing yourself through the hard because I promise you it's a skill worth having.
