Lauren Bateman explains why her paid courses differ from her free YouTube videos: both share the same instructional material, but courses provide access to her (interaction) and a step-by-step blueprint that prevents learners from being led astray by varied YouTube suggestions. She argues that structured guidance is especially important for beginners who can be overwhelmed by advanced unrelated recommendations.
I always get asked, what stuff do you put on YouTube versus your courses? And the truth is, it's the same stuff. What people are buying in the course is they're getting access to me, which they don't on YouTube. I mean, there's no way for me to really interact other than comments, but they're getting the blueprint. And I think a lot of people underestimate how powerful a step by step process is for people, because on YouTube, you know, you'll go and watch the four easiest chords, and then at the end, YouTube suggests seven or eight different videos, and then one of them is how to play Eruption by Eddie Van Halen, which, when you're a beginner, it's just not going to work.
