Hey everybody, welcome back. We are in the second to last video of our Hand Dexterity series. If you missed the earlier videos, I'll put a link up here so that you can go back to the beginning and watch them all in this video. What we're going to be doing is a song called the Joker, which is a super, super cool song. It has some intricate timing to it, so we'll go over that. And we're mostly going to be using the third and second frets. So. So let me play through it real quick so you guys can hear what it sounds like. And then we're going to get into how to play it.
Super cool and fun little lick that we can play. We're only going to be using two fingers on this. We're going to use our first finger and our second finger and they're going to be owning. The first finger is going to own the second fret. The second finger is going to own the third fret. So now that you've heard it, let's go in for a close up so I can show you guys how to play it. So we're starting on the top string, third fret and we're going to do three, three.
And that's the start. Then we're going to go down to the A string and we're going to do open 2.
So it's 3, 3 on the top string and then open 2 on the second string followed by a 3, 3.
Now these first two notes are quarter notes, so they're a little bit longer, long, long. And then the next two notes are eighth notes, so they're a little bit shorter, short, short. And then the three here, these are quarter notes, long, long. So it's long, long, short, short, long, long. And that's the timing we're going to be using for this lick. Long, long, short, short, long, long. So it's 3, 3, open, 2, 3, 3. Those are our first four notes. Three or sorry, first six notes. Now we're going to kind of repeat that timing again. We're going to move down to the D string and we're going to go open two, open, open. All on the D string. Open, two, open, open. And the timing is.
Short, short, long, long. That's our timing. So to put that all together, we've got three, three, short, short, three, three, short, short,. And then the very last part, all very fast eighth notes on just this A string. We have open 2.
And then we have 3, 3, 3, 3 2, 2, open.
Open 2, 3, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, open.
So that's the part about that. Really great for practicing your alternate picking. So let's go back to the beginning. So we have three, three, short, short, three, three, short, short,.
And then we would loop it right back into that.
We have one more fun song in this Hand Dexterity series. So I'll see you guys in that next video.
