Hey, guitar enthusiasts, and welcome to my Take It Easy song tutorial. This is a great song by the E by the Eagles. Fairly easy. It uses five chords. It uses a G chord, a D chord, a C chord, an E minor chord and an A minor chord. Now, the only really tricky part about this song is that there is no real chord progression. The chords change pretty much all the time, even between the verses and the choruses, even within the choruses and verses themselves. So there's really nothing that's repetitive about this song, but it's still simple because the chords are fairly simple. So we're going to talk about two different strumming patterns we're going to use for this song. And the first is for the intro. We're going to use something a little different for the intro because it has a little bit of a different feel, but it's not something super different. It's very, very similar. We're just moving one strum over. So let's talk about this intro. If you need to get the download of this chord chart, you can just go to my website, laurenbateman.com and you can download a copy of the chord chart there. So if I look at this intro, we have a double G, C, D. And then that repeats double G, C, D. And then there's this last G that's on the end, and that's where we're gonna get into our new strumming pattern. Now, for some people, going from one strumming pattern into another may be difficult. So on that last G, you might just want to strum and hold it and then start the next G in the next measure and with the new strumming pattern. But the strumming pattern we're going to use for this intro is going to.
Be one and two, three and four.
And so I'm playing on a G chord.
One and two, three and four. And 1 and 2, 3 and 4. And so it's down, up, down, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, up.
That's going to be our intro strumming pattern. So if I go through this intro with that pattern, so it's double G, C, D. So we've got 1 and.
2, 3 and 4 and 1 and 2, 3 and 4and 1 and 2, 3 and 4& 1 and 2, 3 and 4, repeat 3 and 4 and 1 and 2nd, 3 and 4 and.
C.
And D.
And then we can just strum that last G. Ideally, if I were playing the Song I would switch to the next strumming pattern, which is going to be 1, 2 and 3 and 4.
And 1, 2 and 3 and 4. And down, down, up, down, up, down, up, down, down, up, down, up, down, up.
So that's the strumming pattern we're going to use for the rest of the song all the way through. So if I go through this chord chart with you, See, we have an intro and then we have a verse and the verse. The progression for the verse is double G, D, C. And then we have G, D, C, G. That's our verse, all right. And that will repeat for our second and our third verses as well. When we get to the chorus, we have double E minor, cg, A minor, C, Double E minor, cg, cg, A minor, C. And then we end this chorus with 4G chords. That's your first chorus, your last, or your second chorus, shall I say? It's pretty much the same thing, except the end. We don't end with those four GS. We kind of have an interlude which is a repetition of the verse and most of the chorus. And we'll go through that part as well. And then we've got another chorus at the end, which is pretty much the same thing, except, you know, we've got this E minor that we're gonna hold. And then at the very, very end of the song, we've got this outro that is A double E minor, C, G. And we repeat that all the way out. So let me go through each one individually first. So let's talk about the verse. So we're going to start at G and we're going to use that same strumming pattern or the strumming pattern for the verse, which is 1, 2 and 3 and 4. And so here's the verse, 1, 2.
And 3 and 4 and 1, 2 and 3 and 4. And d 2 and 3 and 4. And c 2 and 3 and 4.
And g, 3, 4.
1, 2 and 3 and 4and c and 3 and 4 and g 2 and 3 and 4.
So that's your verse, and that doesn't change. Fortunately, there's something in the song that doesn't change. The next part is the chorus. So we're going to start with E minor and we're going to play that twice in a row.
1, 2 and 3 and 4 and 1, 2 and 3 and 4. And C2 and 3 and 4 and G2 and 3 and 4. A minor, 2, 3, 4, C, 2 and 3 and 4 and E minor. And repeat again.
E minor.
Now we got C, 1, 2 and 3 and 4, and G2 and 3 and 4, and C2 and 3 and 4, and G 2 and 3 and 4. Now E minor, 2 and 3 and 4,and C2 and 3 and 4,and G.
We're going to play it four times.
All right? That's your verse, that's your chorus. Now, after the second chorus, we're gonna get to. So open up.
I'm climbing in and take it easy.
Now we're on this interlude G. So we're in the verse.
C.
G.
D.
C.
G. Now double.
E min.
Followed by C and G.
Then we got A minor.
C, E.
Minor and C. And then you're back into the next verse. And that's it. You play through another verse. And then we've got the nice. The very last chorus, which is I.
Gotta know if your sweet love is gonna save.
Then we've got.
Double E minor.
C.
G.
And you.
Just keep repeating that all the way through the end of the song. So that's it. That is Take It Easy by the Eagles. So we're taking it easy, but it's not that easy because the chords change a lot. So to play this song, you either have to memorize the chord, the chord progressions for each section, or you have to be really good at knowing your chords and not paying attention to the paper. So that's why it's not like the super easiest beginner song to learn in the world. But it's pretty simple if you've got your chord, your open chords under your belt and the strumming pattern isn't too crazy. Now, if all that strumming is way too much for you, just do four strums per chord.
I was running down the road Trying.
To loosen my load I got seven.
Women on my mind that works totally fine. The song is pretty peppy. It's quick, so whatever is most comfortable for you. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna go. I'm gonna play through an intro. I'm gonna play through a verse in the first chorus and just show you how the song sounds from the beginning to that point. And then you can practice on your own so that you can play the song up to speed on your own time. 1, 2, 3, 4.
On my mind oh, they wanna owe me two that wanna stone me once and she's a friend of mine Take it easy, take it easy don't let the sound in your own wheels Drive me crazy.
Lighting up when you still can don't even try.
Land just find a place to make your stand. Take it easy.
And there you have it. That is Take It Easy by the Eagles. Practice hard. I would practice this in sections. First learn your verse, then learn your choruses, and then put them together. So practice hard and I'll see you in the next video.
