If you are a business owner in the online space, I'm going to tell you the most important thing that you need to be working on right away. I made a huge mistake on this when I started my business and that's collecting emails. You need to start building a customer base. If you don't have customers, who are you sell things to? And we're in business, right? So in business we want to make money and we need people that we can sell products. Products too. Now you're saying, lauren, I'm just getting started. I don't have an email list. What do I do? So that's where we start using things like social media to say, hey, you know, I'm going to create this content and if you want to go further with me, go over to my website. Okay? You should have a website with some sort of free giveaway and I'm not talking like some BS PDF that you just wrote up. Give them something worth value. Make a workshop. Take 30 minutes and be like, listen, I'm going to give you my 30 minute workshop on how to do X, Y and Z. So for example, for this channel, if you went to the creator launchpad, you're going to see right at the top. Learn my top seven must know tips for growing and monetizing your YouTube channel. It is a 30 minute presentation on YouTube. The do's and don'ts what you need to know to get started. It provides a lot of value. I actually give away a lot of cool things like how to do proper research, how to make better thumbnails. It's stuff that people actually need to know to be successful on YouTube. I'm not just giving them some PDF with here's the five or seven points. No, provide them value. And the great thing about using video, it's just like this. They get to see you, they get to feel your energy, they get to see if they like you. Do they like the way you teach? Because remember, there's something called the law of reciprocity, okay? So if you help someone, if I help you, it is more likely that you will do business with me because you like me, you trust me. We're trying to grow trust with an audience. So give them something. And people always ask me, well, what do I give away? Give away your best stuff. Honestly, give them away something that is super, super valuable. Okay? You should be able to do a presentation on one or two very, very helpful points that are going to help them get from A to B. So for example, maybe you are a music teacher like me, okay? And Something you could give away. And I do this. I actually. But I charge people for this. It's, it's a little bump offer on my offers, but it is, it's called the perfect practice routine. Okay. And all I do is I give them a PDF worksheet that is like, this is how you set up your practice. And then I give them a workshop on how to fill out the worksheet. But not only that, I, I tell them kind of the common mistakes people make around practice, like why people don't see progress, why writing down your progress is so important, why it's motivating and will help you to keep practicing. So for someone in my audience, that's something that's actually very valuable, but you could give that away to them for free. And if they're like, wow, this is super helpful and it was free. What will I get if I actually spend money with this person? Okay. And understand, you know, right now as the making this video, I've got about 400,000 subscribers on my guitar teaching YouTube channel. The number of students I have in my seven level system is about 5,000. So that is 1.3%. All right? 1.3 of my YouTube audience has purchased from me. Okay? So it's a numbers game even with the email list. Okay? Those, that's what you're going to confer on an email list. If you have a good offer, it's probably going to be 1 to 2%. All right? We're not talking about 50%, 25%. It's a numbers game. Okay? But if you can get 2% of your people to go fill out your form and then you can sell those people on buying a product because that's what you should be doing with this email list. So you want to build the email list, you want to have them opt into something if they're not buying anything. And, and then you want to follow up with them with a very specific email campaign which builds trust again, gives away even more value and lets them know, hey, if you found this helpful, I have this course over here. I know this is free. I have this course 1972-97-497, whatever it is, and it's going to help you. If I could help you get from A to B with just this quick 30 minute little workshop, imagine what I can do if you actually invest some money into this. Instead of getting you from A to B, I can now get you from A to Z. Now if you don't have a way to collect emails, you gotta get on this right away. Could be something like mailchimp, could be something like Constant Contact. I use Kajabi, which is kind of like a built in. You know, it's for courses, for email landing pages. It's kind of like an all in one platform. And that's where I host my courses and I collect the emails. And what happens is they fill out an opt in form and it just automatically goes right into my email list, my customer database. So if you don't have something, you need to get on that right now and you need to create something to help you grow this list. And if you're looking for a great way to grow your list and start making money today, check out my video right over there where I tell you about mini courses. And one of the biggest mistakes I made that left thousands of doll on the table.
