Lauren Bateman explains that SEO (search engine optimization) significantly drives traffic to both YouTube and her website, especially for her guitar lesson content. She notes her website likely receives over 100,000 unique visitors per month and that many users search for guitar lessons or simple chord songs (e.g., "Simpleman"). She emphasizes SEO is more important for websites than for YouTube but that creators should learn basic SEO practices.

SEO plays an important part in driving traffic to YouTube and to a website on YouTube. It's my number three SEO search within Google and my website. My website probably gets over 100,000 unique visitors a month. And a lot of those people are searching for a guitar lesson, for Simpleman or Easy Chords to play on the guitar. So understanding basic search engine optimization is important. It's much more important on a website versus YouTube, but it's something that you need to know how to do.
