Lauren Bateman delivers direct advice on what it takes to succeed on YouTube, stressing that most people will not persist through the work involved. She recounts coaching others, warning that mentors can guide but cannot do the creator’s work (recording, editing) for them, and states that only about 1% of people succeed on YouTube.

Just understand there's a very finite number of people who are actually going to make it. I've tried to help a number of people make it on YouTube. They're like, I see what you're doing. I want to do this. I'm like, cool, I'll help you. I'll coach you. And then 90 days in, they're like, this is a lot of work. I don't think I can do this. If you don't want to put the work in, that's your choice. I can't do the work for you. A lot of people go into anything in life and they're expecting the mentor, the coach to do the work for them. I can't do the work for you. I can help you. I can guide you on making decisions. I can tell you what mistakes I've made so that hopefully you don't make them. But I can't sit down and push record for you. I can't sit down and edit your videos. You have to do it. And the number of people who do that and do that successfully, even on YouTube, it's about 1%.
