Lauren Bateman explains that different social media platforms attract different audiences and that successful marketing requires posting where your target audience hangs out. She contrasts platforms for her guitar audience (older — Facebook, YouTube) with platforms targeted for business growth (LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok) and states she will expand from focusing on two platforms to a multi-platform approach.

You have to understand each platform is different. I'm not someone who posted on LinkedIn very often. LinkedIn is more of like a business professional platform. But now that I'm getting into the business stuff, you're going to start seeing me posting on LinkedIn more. Because that's where business people are hanging out. That's where professionals are hanging out. And when you have an audience and you're trying to market a service, you got to know where your audience hangs out. All right. My audience for guitar is much older. They're hanging out on Facebook and they're hanging out on YouTube. Those are like my main two platforms for my guitar. And sometimes I post on Instagram too, but Instagram tends to be a younger audience. I know there are some older people on there. They're following me. But it's a different demographic than what I got on YouTube and what I have on Facebook. But now, again, the business side of things, we're gonna be pushing this to TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn. We're gonna be hitting different platforms. So now instead of just focusing on these two platforms, I'm gonna be working on focus on multi platform.
