Hey youtubers, welcome back. Lauren Bateman here in this video I'm going to show you how to create a custom URL for your YouTube channel. Let's get into it.
So welcome to full time YouTubers where I help YouTubers learn how to grow their YouTube channels and become full time YouTubers like myself. And what we're going to do in this video is go over how to add a custom URL to our channel. So let's pop over to my laptop. Just want to let you guys know the process is the same exact on a desktop which I'm using here because it's just easier to see. But you can do the same thing on the phone. You don't want to use the app. You actually want to open up YouTube in a browser window and follow the same exact steps here. All right, so I'm in YouTube right now. You can see YouTube.com I'm just going to click on my profile picture up here. So this is my full time YouTubers channel and we're going to go into the YouTube studio here. So click on that little cog and you will see I am in my channel dashboard board. You need at least 100 subscribers to be able to get a custom URL. So once you have the correct number of subscribers, you can scroll down here on the left hand side and go to customization. And then once you're in customization we want to go to basic information and we're going to scroll down and you can see here channel URL. So here is your channel URL right now you can see mine. It's like numbers, capitalized letters under, you know, there's underscores it, you know, like you're never going to remember that. So what we can do is we can click on this link that says set custom URL and it will tell you, hey, would you like to make your custom URL the name of your channel? So the name of my channel right now is full time YouTubers. Okay. So it is going to automatically load that as your custom URL. Unless for some reason someone else had the URL full time youtubers already, it wouldn't make it available. So some of you might say, well that's not what I want it to be. I want it to be something else. So what I would do is if you want that, go ahead, click this little black thing and then click Publish. That's what I'm going to do in a second. But say you didn't want that. I would get out of this. I would cancel. Get out. Come back into the basic info. You can change your name up here. So let me just say full time users test. All right, I'm going to publish that and then I'm going to scroll back down to set custom URL. And you can see here now it's gone to full time YouTubers test. So you can always go up and change that. But just make sure if you do that, you got to cancel out, come back up, change your name. I'm going to go back to full time YouTubers because that's what I want. You publish it and come back down to your custom URL. You and here it is as full time YouTubers again. Hey YouTubers, hope you're enjoying this tutorial so far. Don't forget to subscribe to the channel and turn on the notifications. This way you'll know when I release more videos just like this. So I'm going to click on that because that's what I want my channel URL to be. So you see, it'll be a C backslash Full time YouTubers. I'm going to publish this because that's going to make it so much easier for me. And then you're going to confirm and say yes, this is what you want. Now if you confirm this and say you want to change your name, down the road you can. YouTube does allow you to change your custom URL three times in a year. So say you do a custom URL and you want to change it up in a few months, you can definitely go in and do that. So what I'm going to do here is I'm going to click confirm and what I'm going to do is open a new browser and I'm going to type in YouTube.com backslash c full time youtubers and you'll see, we'll load my channel. So now something else I want to mention here. You don't have to have this C. If you don't put the C and you just do backslash full time YouTubers, it's still going to go to your channel. It's just a backend thing for YouTube to know that it's a channel. So obviously creating a custom URL will make it easier for you to promote your YouTube channel and grow above the 100 subscriber mark. If you're interested in learning more how to grow your subscribership on YouTube or go check out this video up there and I hope to see you guys in another video lesson.
