Lauren Bateman recommends custom light 11s for acoustic guitar and a hybrid set of 10s and 9s for electric, saying the mix makes bending easier while keeping good tone.

What gauge of strings to use on your guitar is a very personal preference. For me. On my acoustic guitars I like to use what's called 11s. These are custom light gauge strings and I feel for me they are the perfect balance between something that is too heavy or really thin and too tinny. On my electric guitar I like to use hybrid strings and they are thicker strings on the top tens and they're thinner strings on the bottom nines and I do that because I find it very hard to bend in pitch when I have thicker strings.
