Lauren Bateman coaches a real-estate client to stop serving everyone and pick one audience. The client worked with brokers, buyers, and sellers. Bateman narrowed it to brokers only, then further to busy moms aged 25-45, because speaking to everyone means speaking to no one.
A big mistake I see a lot of YouTubers make is that they go really, really wide with their content. I was working with a client recently. She is a realtor. And we were talking about niching down to who her specific person was. Now she works with brokers, she works with buyers, she works with sellers. And I'm like, you got to pick one of those people. Like, you really got to dive in deep. And she really has a lot of programs to help real estate brokers. So we decided that she was going to help real estate brokers. And again, I was like, well, are they male? Are they female? What's their age? And it was, you know, it was everyone. And I'm like, no, who is it? So we narrowed it down to people who are probably like 25 to 45, all right? Probably more female, because one, she's a female, she's a mom, and she understands what it's like to be a busy mom and have a successful career. So when you are on YouTube, you have to understand who is your ideal person to that you're talking through the camera to. You should know who they are, what their sex is, what their age is, you know, what is their education level, what are their pain points. All right? A mother, a single mom, is going to have very, very different pain points than a guy who is married with two kids. They're just. They're different, okay? So you have to know how to talk specifically to that person. If you're talking to too many people over here on YouTube, you might want to take some down in niche, down your content.
