Lauren Bateman recounts an experience with YouTube copyright enforcement: after making a teaching video on the Eagles' "Hotel California" (she did not sing), the upload was blocked. She reflects on the difficulty music teachers face getting copyrighted songs on YouTube and the time/effort lost when videos are blocked.

Copyright on YouTube can be tricky sometimes. I did a video on Hotel California by the Eagles, who are the worst for copyright on YouTube. So I put all this time and effort, and I showed it, and everyone's like, it's black. It's blocked. And I completely got the video blocked. So I said, crap. I go, I just made this video. How am I gonna get Hotel California onto YouTube? I'm gonna teach the video, but I'm not gonna sing. I didn't sing it.
