From my recent chats with top-tier operators, the opportunity cost of not being at a startup with a real shot to make history has never been higher. It feels like a unique moment, and I can sense it the insane energy right now in SF.

Like it or not, the early days of @ScaleAILabs and even some parties I attended at MIT looked like this (with the addition of some drinks). It might be unbelievable for some, but this sort of thing is actually really fun for some of the most brilliant people I know... and for myself, albeit at a much lower level :)

This led to a Sep 2021 ML infra blog post I wrote when I first started in VC, and years later led to @kleinerperkins leading the Series A of Poetic and me joining the board.
