The secret destination that immigration agents are sending new immigrants...

Pete Koulizos discusses why immigration agents are directing South Americans to Adelaide, Australia. The city offers better residency prospects and employment opportunities than other Australian destinations, making it an increasingly popular choice for new immigrants seeking infrastructure development and economic growth.

Yeah, certainly there is a lot of major infrastructure works going on in Adelaide and South Australia, but I reckon that's happening all over the world because up until a few months ago, interest rates were dirt cheap. So, you know, governments can borrow billions of dollars and their repayments are relatively low compared to what they used to be. So there's. And really one of the things that was holding back people either moving to Adelaide or investing in Adelaide is it was the employment opportunities. But with employment at record lows, we don't have our young ones leaving Adelaide and going to Melbourne and Sydney for their professional jobs anymore. We have them coming here because they can either keep their job in Melbourne and Sydney and work from here, or they can find a professional job. Many of my property graduates get jobs as soon as they finish. I also have construction management students in my property classes. And it's wonderful to see on LinkedIn that virtually as soon as they graduate, they've got a job in their particular field. So I have never seen the employment market as it is today. So despite it being a deterrent in the past, for Adelaide, that's not as much of an issue as it used to be. One, because of COVID Number two, because nationally we have really low unemployment.
So here's another thing that I have found and it's. I'm going to say anecdotal information, but I'm validating it all the time. Pete. You know, I like to do a bit of a research as well, but I have three Colombians working for me from South America. And over the last five years, and pretty much they got mugged one many too many times. And they googled at the time, safest place in the world. And Melbourne popped up. So we've got these amazing, amazing people. And at the moment, I think they tell me there's like 20 Facebook groups of South Americans in Melbourne. We have this wonderful, dynamic community and obviously they're attracting their friends over, et cetera. And what I've seen in the last year and having chats to these guys is that their cousins and their friends that have come over and started studying at the universities have all of a sudden gone, oh, we're moving to Adelaide. And they're moving to Adelaide and they're trying to get rental accommodation and there's 30 applicants for every rent and the rents are going up and, and all of this. And I'm like, why is this? So what is going on here? And you know what I found out? I bet you can guess. Okay, so Adelaide is considered regional for.
Your visas that's right.
So to get permanent residency, you get more points if you're in a regional area and Adelaide's regional, so they're all moving there so that they can actually get their PR sooner. And if you live and you study and you work in an area, you know, you're not really going to uplift your friends and your community and move somewhere else. So, you know, you get Your permanent residency 18 months time, these people are going to be able to get a loan and buy a property. So we've got this kind of thing. So I'm like, okay, so this is kind of interesting. So then I started speaking to immigration agents and saying, where are you sending people? And like, we're all sending them to Adelaide.
I love the way you do that research, Jane Rather, because too many property experts just surmise what's happening based on their experience. But the fact that you contacted immigration agents to confirm what you were thinking, that's what I love about you.
