Roman Vestal Virgins were chosen at five or six from wealthy families and served thirty years: ten training, ten in active service, ten training successors. They retired around 35. A rare exception: if a low-class man married a Vestal, he'd instantly rise in social status.
Vestals. And they were Vestals for 30 years. They were picked at the age of 5 or 6 from the richest families in town. These girls were like nuns. They were trained for 10 years to become the effective Vestals, and they were the effective Vestals for 10 more years. The last decade was spent training the future generations of Vestals. At the end of 35 or 36, they retired. So old. To become, to become a revenant. That if a low-class man was able to make a Vestal fall in love with him, he was able to marry this woman, he would be immediately upgraded forever.
