Dos decisiones de hoy que cambian el panorama migratorio.

In this brief commentary, attorney Lorena Rivas explains two recent United States Supreme Court rulings that negatively affect immigrants. The first ruling affirms that the president can terminate Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a decision applied to Haitians and Syrians but that could be used to end TPS for nationals of other countries, including several Latin American nations such as Honduras, Venezuela, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. The second ruling grants the government authority to limit the number of asylum seekers allowed to enter the United States, effectively forcing many to remain outside the country in dangerous conditions. Rivas characterizes both decisions as harmful and notes that a forthcoming Supreme Court decision will address whether children of undocumented immigrants retain U.S. citizenship.
