Immigration is such an important topic. Who all has heard the word immigration or immigrants on television or on anywhere? Wow, almost everybody, right? My name is Lorena Rivas, Esq., and I am an immigration attorney from Rivas Associates. So my job as an attorney, as a lawyer, is to help people migrate to the United States and migrate lawfully or to get status. So I help people come into the United States or I help people who are already in the United States to get their status and to eventually become— apply for U.S. citizenship. And when I say status, I mean either having some kind of protective status that allows them to stay here or to work here and get a Social Security number and get a driver's license here, or I help them get what's called a green card or a legal permanent resident status that allows them to live here, you know, permanently. Sometimes I'm just able to help people get temporary status here, and then hopefully at the end I have them become a U.S. citizen.
