If you feel like you're drowning in debt, lots of credit cards, car loans, super high interest rate loans, and you're thinking, I don't even know where to start. Well, take a breath. You're not alone. And there's a way out. But it starts with this. You've got to face the truth. No more avoiding the statements. No more guessing. You've got to sit down and write it all out. Who do you owe? What do you owe? What are the interest rates? What are the minimum payments? Because you can't fix what you don't see. Now, next, you've got to stop the bleeding before you get out of debt. You've got to stop going deeper into it. That means No more unnecessary spending, no more adding to your credit cards. And you got to start separating the needs from the wants. Now, this isn't forever, but it's necessary right now. So now let me tell you something from experience working with hundreds of clients who've been in debt. You need a strategy. Now, for me, I believe in focusing on paying down your high interest debt first. Why? Because that, that's the debt that's going to hurt you the most. So if you've got credit cards at 30%, 35%, 40%, and I've seen them as high as 178%, or you have some at, you know, 10 or 12%, it doesn't make sense to ignore one that's costing you the most. So focus your energy there, pay the minimums on everything else, and attack that high-interest debt. That's how you're going to start gaining ground. Next, pick up the phone, call your creditors. Most people don't do this, but you should. Ask for lower interest rates, payment plans, hardship programs. You'd be surprised what they'll do when you actually reach out. And yes, some people look at consolidation loans. It can help lower interest you know, one payment, but only if you don't go right back into debt again. Otherwise, you didn't solve the problem, you just moved it. And let me leave you with this: getting out of debt is not just about the numbers. It's about behavior. It's about discipline. It's about changing your relationship with money, because if that doesn't change, the debt always comes back. And if you stay consistent month by month, little by little, you can get out. And more importantly, you get your peace back.
