Welcome back. This is Luis Baragas, your financial life healer. I want to share something that happened to me at the office this past week that reminded me of. Of what? Sometimes when I'm having meetings with Latino couples, what I hear, and at the end of this meeting with a client that we were doing retirement planning, we're looking at a 20 year retirement period. She, the, the lady said.
And she said, well, Luis, if, if God wills it. And basically she was saying that if God wills it, then they'll reach retirement, you know, in 20 years and have financial dignity. And sometimes I want you to understand that I think that God wants what you want because I think we all have free will and we have to focus on what we have control over. And so what did we have control over? We have control over to sit down and decide what our future should look like, decide how much it's going to cost, decide where we're starting from. And that's basically putting together and sitting down and doing a retirement plan. And so the more you plan for your future, the better odds that you're going to get there. Right? We all know, let's be real, that things happen in life, right, that we sometimes don't have control over, but we do have control over a lot of other things. And we do have control over putting money away every single month or every single year towards financial independence. So don't leave it up to somebody else.
