Short YouTube video (transcript) by Louis Barajas advising viewers to review and potentially rebalance retirement investments—especially 401(k)s—during tax season amid a long bull market (Feb 2018). Emphasizes moving older clients toward conservative allocations, checking bond vs equity exposure, and consulting an advisor. Not investment advice; a reminder to pay attention to diversification.

Hey everyone, this is going to be a quick class and it's going to be a class. It's basically just kind of reminding you that we have not had a recession or we've been in a long time or we've been in a bull market for almost going a decade now. Right. Last I think we ended on March 9, 2008. We are now in February of 2018. And so who knows, the economy is strong. This might be the biggest bull market we've had in the history of the United States. But you have to be very careful. And usually during tax time is when people kind of pay attention.
To their taxes and their money and sometimes to their investment because they're taking their tax prepare their investment information as well. And I'd like you to take a look at your 401k and how you have it invested right now. For example, I've got just met with a client and I'm actually don't want, I'm not going to post this up because again, investment information really should be tailored around your financial situation. But we're taking this client, who's a little bit older, in their 60s, to a more conservative position because again, you know, we're starting to feel that the markets hit certain highs and again, it may go a little higher, but not that much more, we think. And so keep an eye on your investments, keep an eye on the portfolio. See how much you have in bonds versus equities, whether it's in a conservative position. What we did is we took a portfolio and we saw right now where it was on the spectrum from very conservative to very aggressive in this portfolio that the client has on the very conservative side and she feels really comfortable with it at this point right now and in context of the current economy. So again, it's tax time. I know you're paying attention to your finances. I know you're getting information regarding your 401ks. Take a look at the investments. I mean, everybody pretty much has been allowing everything to ride for a real long time. Your investment has been going up, but what goes up must come down. So just pay attention. Talk to your investment advisor and we're here to help you as well. So give me a call or send me an email and I can sort of guide you or talk to your investment advisor. Again, this is not investment advice. It's just basically my conversation of having with you do the same. Pay attention right now more than ever on your investment diversification in your retirement plan. I'll see you next time.
