A short YouTube monologue by Louis Barajas addressing Latino men about how cultural machismo—an insistence on control and ego—can hinder wealth-building and sound financial planning. He urges replacing machismo with a growth mindset: seek better information, ask for help (even simple directions), drop the ego, and prioritize taking care of family.

Welcome back. This is Luis Barajas. Today I'm going to be talking to the Latino men out there that listen to me. So if you're a woman, you can scroll, you can continue moving forward. And this is for my men, okay? So one of the things that we think about with Latino men is we have the culture of machismo, right? We're in control. We're the man. Whatever we say goes. And I will share with you that I have seen over my last almost 40 years of being in wealth management and financial planning, that machismo really means a lot more ego, that even though that there might be better information somewhere else, it's your way or the highway. And sometimes it's not your way or the highway, sometimes there's a better way. And so I will share with you that if you really want to grow, if you really want to be the man of the house, if you really want to take control of your future, you know, don't have that machismo mindset. Have a growth mindset. Ask people how to, you know, how to get to where you're going to be. Well, I always kid around with sometimes when. When people are driving, you know, usually it's the man who's not going to ask for direction. It's the wife that's looking on the phone for, you know, for the map or the guy to get them there. So drop the ego. Take care of your family. Machismo is not going to help you and take care of your family.
