Marcus Aurelius said the best revenge is not to be like your enemy. When you respond to cruelty with cruelty, you become what you despise. Real victory is keeping your dignity and compassion intact, even when facing hostility.

In light of all the political tension, especially around Latinos, Marcus Aurelius in the book Meditations said something almost 2,000 years ago that feels incredibly relevant today. The best revenge is not to be like your enemy. Now think about that. When somebody treats you badly, it's easy to become angry. When people are cruel, well, it's easy to become cruel yourself. When the world feels divided, it's easy to start seeing everyone who disagrees with you as the enemy. But then they've changed you. And maybe that's the real battle we're fighting. Not whether we can defeat the people we disagree with, but whether we can go through difficult times without losing who we are. We don't have to return hate with hate. You don't have to return disrespect with disrespect. And you can stand up for what you believe in and still have dignity. You can still fight for what's right and still have compassion, because at the end of the day, the greatest victory isn't proving somebody else wrong. It's making sure they didn't change you. Tell me what you think.
