Louis Barajas breaks down his "Finanzas con Corazón" framework for escaping poverty mindset through four pillars: truth, awareness, responsibility, and courage. He shows how phrases like "I'm bad with money" and "People like me don't get ahead" trap people financially, and how replacing them with "I'm learning" and "I deserve more" shifts outcomes.

In my Finanzas con Corazón online workshop, I talk about the 4 pillars of wealth transformation: truth, awareness, responsibility, and courage. And awareness is the big one because I always say you can't change what you don't acknowledge. But here's a deeper question: how can you change if you don't even realize that what you're saying is keeping you stuck? So see, after doing this for over 30 years, I can sit with someone for just a few minutes, and just by listening to how they talk, I can tell you they're operating from a poverty mindset. Not because they're bad people, not because they don't work hard, but because of their words. I'll hear them say things like, "That's just how I am. People like me don't get ahead. I'm just bad with money. That's for rich people, not me. I'll never be wealthy." And here are a few more that show up all the time: "I'll start saving money when I make more money," or "I can't afford to invest," or "Every time I get ahead, something happens," or "Money just stresses me out," or "I'm not good with numbers," or "I didn't grow up with money, so this is just how it is," or I deserve to enjoy my money now, I'll worry about it later. Those sound normal, but they're not. They're limitations. They're beliefs that quietly keep you playing small. And over time, those beliefs shape your decisions, your habits, and your entire life. So here's where awareness comes in. Start listening to yourself. Catch your words, catch your patterns, catch the story you keep repeating. Because once you become aware, now you have a choice. You can keep repeating the same story Or you can start saying, I'm learning, I'm growing, I deserve more, I'm building financial dignity, I'm on my way. That's where transformation begins.
