Luis Lan compares a $30 Sony ECM-LV1 lavalier mic to the $300 Rode Wireless Go II. The Sony is omnidirectional, comes with a windshield, and sounds surprisingly close to the Rode's built-in mic in direct comparisons.

What's up, YouTube? Today we're going to be looking at the Sony ECM LV1 lav mic. Just came out last month and a week ago it was available on Amazon, so I just got mine in. I have been looking for a lav mic for my Rode Wireless Go II. I did consider the lav mic that.
Rode provided, but they were a bit.
Steep at $70, so I ended up getting the ECM LV1s shout out deep pirate. He compared the ECM CS3, which was the old model, in comparison to these ones that just came out, sounded a little bit crisper. So today I'm just going to be comparing the RODE to the Sony LAV mic and seeing which one sounds better. Y' all just let me know in the comments which one y' all think sounds better and we'll go from there. So in the box comes the LAV mic and a little windshield, which is nice because in the other one it.
Didn'T look like a windshield was provided.
So that's nice. I'm gonna pop this on and then go back and forth from the two.
And see if there's an any noticeable.
Difference in the sound.
Gotta pop off the windshield.
So yeah, much easier, much cleaner. I just didn't like having this bulky.
Thing trying to put that on my hoodie. So hopefully these sound good compared to the Rode Wireless Go to Built in mic.
Have no problem with it. Hopefully this sounds clean. Yeah, I'm just gonna pop it off and then try and see what it sounds like. Again, back on the Rode Wireless GO II mic, just seeing how it sounds. Hopefully it's okay.
But we're gonna jump back to the Sony LAV mic, see how that goes. So now back on the Sony LAV.
Mic omnidirectional, which is nice so you.
Can clip it on either way and then twist the top to it. It is black, which is nice compared to the gray one. The East ECM CS3, which was silver, kind of stood out a little bit more. This one blends in a lot more, which I like. I'm gonna pop on the windshield and see if that does anything to it. Be right back popping the windshield on.
Seeing how the sound quality is on it.
I did consider Rhodes lav mic, but that came in at 70 bucks. And I bought two of these off of Amazon for right around 50, which was no brainer because I have two transmitters for the rode and I needed two lav mics and dropping 70 bucks a pizza on on each of those lav mics was a Bit much. So I'm hoping that the sound quality coming out of the Sony lav mics is a. Okay. So we'll see once I get this all. All edited out, see which one sounds better. And now I'm gonna go back to the road with the windshield to see how that sounds now. Now back on the RODE Wireless GO II mic. I do like it, but it's just too much. Right. Right on me. It's. And it's hard to clip on. This has a fairly long wire. I think it's three. Three feet and some change. So it's good amount of wire. Kind of put. Put the road in my pocket on my hip, and then just put this through my. My hoodie or whatever and then good to go. Gonna jump back over to the lav mic without a windshield. See how that. If that's any different. Now we're back on the Sony lav mic. Ran it through my shirt, no wires. It's a lot cleaner than the Rode Wireless Go ii. So I'm really hoping that the sound quality coming out of the $30 mic is nice. If it is, then it's a great purchase. Bang for your buck. 30 bucks for this. This sound quality coming out of this lav mic. If you have any questions, leave them down below. I'll make sure to answer them. The only bad thing about the lav mic is that it can't directly connect to your phone. So you're gonna need a TRS connector. Because the. The lab. The Sony lav mic only has two. Two lines on it, and you need a hookup that has three. So I'll link down below the little converter that you need to get from RODE to connect it from the lav mic to the phone to make it work properly. If you do have any other questions, just leave them down below. Appreciate you watching my video. And till next time.
