Discover Oahu's Best Bites: Malasadas, Dole Whips, and Beyond

Good afternoon. Late morning. It's kind of late. We were tired and we slept in and we slept in some more and a tad bit more. So today we are going to go get molasadas from Leonard's, go to the Dole Plantation, get some ice cream and then head over to North Shore.

To the beach. So she can splash in the water and I can sit under the umbrella and do nothing. Yep. And that's about it. All we have planned for right now. So let's go. We made it to the Leonard's food truck. They do have the main location in Waikiki. There's always a line in that one. And they also have another location by Coco Crater. They might have some more. But that other one by Coco Crater, it's also full or it also has a line. This one doesn't have as big of a line, so. And they still make it fresh. So if you don't want to wait or if you're not in Waikiki, you can also check the other two. Making them fresh as you order them. They stick them in the fryer. Oh, yeah. And the fillings right there. Fill them up. We're not gonna get any filling ones. We're going straight. Basic, original cinnamon lihing. I don't know what that one is. Swee. Sour sugar. So we'll see how it is. If you walk around town and someone has a pink box from Leonard's, you.

Know, they got the goods.

They got the goods and they're walking around with a pink box. They went to Leonard's. There's usually a way to get it because they make it fresh. So it's going to be hot. So we gotta wait a little bit. But no line at this location, which is nice.

When you, when you get them, you literally don't leave. Look, you don't leave. You eat them right by your car. Cuz you don't want them to get cold.

And if you eat them in your car, you'll get sugar everywhere.

So now we're gonna eat them. Oh, I think on the car hood.

The lihing one has like red on it.

They'll be delicious.

It's very hot. I cannot hold.

The outside is crunchy, and the inside is really chewy.

Yeah, it's crazy. I see people come here and they get a box or two, and I think there's, like, a dozen of these in there. And I'm like, damn, it's hot. They're not messing around when they say they're fresh. This. Put some ice cream on top. I think under it's hot.

Our next test of taste. Also very hot. Cinnamon and sugar.

How is it?

It's like a giant donut hole, but more flexible.

This. It's, like, thick.

I don't know if I could eat more than. Yeah, I don't know if I could eat more than two of these. Is this a taste?

This last one fleeing a sweet and sour powder, and it's like.

Out of the three, the original was my favorite. Yep, original. Hands down.

I can't imagine a Filled one of these. That would be so heavy. But if that's your. If you like filled donuts, then you go for it.

The cinnamon one was too cinnamony. I wish it had more sugar in it. The sugar to cinnamon ratio.

The second bite was better.

I'm just not digging those red flakes.

This is why I wish I brought those wet wipes. I have them out the house. Little germs never hurt anybody. Third bite was even better.

Original, hands down favorite.

Didn't get filled ones. I'm glad we got three. Three was a struggle to finish. So that's it for now. We're going to go to the Dough Plantation, get some ice cream. See you just got here and what do you know? A line. Oh, God. Most of these doors are. But if you want to be that person and don't want to wait in line, then this. This door is unlocked. Just say you have to use the restroom and the guy will let you in. Don't tell anyone. Pro tips only for y'.

My subscribers. There's two counters on this side, but if you go all the way around, there's a third counter that has a smaller line. See, we just ended up getting a dual regular with some coconut sprinkles. Coconut sprinkles were a dollar. Coconut flakes and that was like a dollar extra. So it's like eight bucks. Not too bad. There are two. Ordering desk in the front and then there's a third on the back side.

Not many people know about.

And the backside one has less people in it. So just wrap around to the other side.

Nice. Made me think we're on our morning walk with Guabo. The cashier lady was very interested in my lilikoi syrup.

Now really busy.

Now to the beach. Sam. Very good beach. Pretty hot though. So bring an umbrella if you're gonna come. Otherwise you're gonna have to fight for the shade.

The waves do get a little strong, but they don't rip you around so you can kind of just feel float along them. The water is really blue, the sand is soft. But it's just a little bit of a walk through the sand if you want a not so easy spot.

People. Some people said they saw turtles. We saw a couple on the drive here.

So you might see some turtles.

And then parking is a little rough, so make sure to come early or be patient. I made Chen get out and take the chairs while I look for a spot. Was finally able to get one. And then there are bathrooms, which is a plus. And they're little lifeguard stand is pretty cool looking. And way over there there are people lift jumping or diving. So if you're into that, knock yourselves out. And it's a beautiful beach. So on the recommendation now change and food. Look at all those chickens and that rooster over there. Highly recommend bringing water bottles that was full. Didn't think we would use them all, but we destroyed them. Not so much the ginder row. This parking is pretty bad. So there's always people waiting for parking. Just posted up like that red Camaro is waiting for me to leave. Such a. Probably leave give them the spot. Pretty good one, right? Let's. I lied. We're actually not getting food yet. We are back at savers. But hear me out. One, on Mondays, which is today, everything in the store is 25 off. That's a good amount of percent off. And number two, because we went last time, they gave us credits to use this time. So we're gonna use those credits along with the 25% off to make some reasonable adult choices. Reasonable adult choices.

Highway in. But we got there 15 minutes too late for them to do table service. But they still had 45 minutes left before they closed. So you can't show up an hour before they close. Because they won't seat you. They'll only give you to go food. So we ended up coming to Rainbow drive in and Chen got a. What is it? A rainbow Royal Rainbow Royal double cheeseburger, cheese, some fries. I got the mixed plate because they were out of the Simine with beef caramel. And you gotta ask for the hot sauce. I guess they have some special hot sauce. And I'm waiting on my slush float. We'll see how that goes. But let's dig in. We're hungry. First meal of the day. And finished the burger. She said it was good.

Onions were fresh. Reminded me of in and out.

In and out. Was it better than in n out? No, no, not better than in and out, but good. Fresh onions. Rice is rice. The sauce tastes like buffalo sauce. There's like fish, beef, and some other meats that I don't know. Not bad. Mac salad, good. Tartar sauce is tangy and good. Haven't eaten our apple thing yet. Gotta go check on my social. So, got the slush float. Apparently it's a favorite. Ice cream on top and then some red slushy stuff on the bottom. Let's see how it is. Ginger apple cake. Time to cut into it.

I mean, I don't even like fries. I'm probably the wrong person this morning. Some of this crumble.

Oh, but it's pretty good. To be determined. Pretty good. All in all, decent food.

Nothing crazy out of this world. Prices were decent, so I could see how this place, it's kind of like it's popular.

Yeah, I don't want to say like a family, like, home cooking, fast food.

Maybe I say like the. The Denny's of Hawaii. I would. I would classify it as that.
