From 'I Do' to uh oh: Our Hawaiian Honeymoon Mishap

Luis Lan got married in Hawaii and tried to fly to Japan the same day. The airline wouldn't let them board without a return ticket, so he bought one at the airport for $2,000. The marriage license won't arrive for 30 to 60 days.

Anywhere from 30 to 60 days.
They had not booked a return flight to show proof of onward/return travel (the agent said this could imply a visa requirement for stays over 90 days).
About $2,000 (he said "just gonna pay the two grand").

The months leading up to a wedding can be one of the most stressful period in a relationship. Having so many things pop up that you need to take care of before the big day can be overwhelming. Especially if you decide to have a wedding 4,000 miles away from your house. I mean, what could go wrong?
Hello?
Hello?
Yeah, my bad.
I'm at my mom's house right now.
Wait, what house?
Yeah, I'm not at that one. I'm at two doors now.
Now what?
Me and him are at the beach. Don't worry about us.
Oh, my.
What?
The address that I sent you. Come. Come to that place with the. With the food. Or did you already drop it off? The second one. The one that I just texted you the address for. Yeah, come with the food.
Okay, Bye.
My friend. Hooray, you made it. Come inside and Berkey or Aaron.
Hey.
I was gonna say the other word.
Wait, wait, now, wait. You have to. You have to take it apart now. Did they put all of, like, one. Did they put all of one in one and all of another in another?
I think this might be the black. Yeah, not you.
Why are you dressed like.
Like you're somebody's dad?
Do I look like a dad?
You do.
My wife's daddy.
Daddy, chill.
Oh, here's the black sugar. Yeah, I don't know what that means, but.
Yeah.
This is soyu chicken.
Very nice. What's your name?
Weird name, isn't it?
Yeah, weird name, isn't it?
I don't know which ones are which, though.
Figure it out.
They'll bite into it.
What is that?
These are the steamed ones, which I don't like as much.
No, I don't like the steam ones. I like the big ones. I like the fake ones.
The baked ones at least. Told me to film everybody. How are you doing this morning? How are you doing? I haven't met you. My name is Aaron.
Matt.
Sorry, I don't know you, too. All right, we're dropping off the food and there's lights. I'm not ready for the closeup. Is that the dress? Is that the wedding dress?
It is.
Look at this later. Don't look at this now. I filmed the wedding dress. Okay, cool. That's it. Did we drop off all that food? What's up, boys? Everybody's here in one place. We got the breakfast. About to have the photographer show up again. Tell us to hurry up. Got the buns. We're trying to figure out the belt situation on the pants. Yeah, this is. This is for Luis. Decorative belt. I also got a Little peek at the dressing up in there on here. So I hope Luis can't, like, look at this, but forward to working. Don't show up. Don't do it. Maybe that's why he gave it to me. He's like.
Cuz I always.
I never wear flip flops.
Pasty.
That's just Joseph. And I have some, like, long ass to look at this.
What are you doing? What are you doing? One of those.
One of those actual shoes.
Oh, these would fit the suit better than the.
Put your munching on.
Surprise. That looks good. You got a loco moco.
Yeah, I have this thing with white shoes. I know that they're always going to.
Be trash.
To look at. Yeah.
I feel like I can't. I was like, I'm trying to get out of here. Looking good.
Feeling good.
Yeah, you're looking amazing.
All right.
This one's cool. It stands out. I don't know why I put it against this. I thought I had my jacket on.
I think it's the same color. Yeah, like cream. Cream, Yellow, Creamish. Okay, okay, okay.
I'm getting real B roll. I got the weirdest B roll.
I'm getting the closets, the tie train.
I can't figure it out because it's making me feel like the selfish one.
Because I'm not doing anything.
We're all about to turn around.
Double check, double check. All right. All right, everyone looking. Looking good. All right. Fresh, fresh.
Move around. Yeah, I think my wrist feels good.
Oh, I have a leg. Oh, someone get laid.
Someone's not getting 1.
There's 2 and 2.
Oh, four people.
Damn.
No, no.
Help me. Help me.
We're gonna need help with that.
Okay, let me see here. You know, these might leave. Are these rentals suits?
Yeah.
Yeah. They might leave a pool and I'm not. Yeah, you can. Some guys do that. Just if it's a rental and you don't want to end up paying for it. Yeah, yeah. It looks good like that, actually.
Big Louise pay for it? Oh, yeah.
We get charged cleaning fees. That's all you.
That's all you were.
When the crowds have gone.
We could.
Talk the moonlight till daw we could stay to watch the sun rise Cancel all our friends we don't need a reason why we just can't.
Bridesmaids assemble.
The back is perfect.
That's good. All right.
Okay, you guys, we're gonna come in here.
We're going to go get married.
She's gonna be my wife. That's everybody back there. Those are our friends.
Everyone got Ready for the wedding. Still scrambling around. We still hadn't had our meeting with the coordinator for her to sign off on our paperwork. The time was getting closer. Everyone was ready. Boom, it was time. We had to have this interview with the coordinator. All right, so now we gotta actually get our marriage.
Oh, we gotta, we gotta get approved by the agent.
No, I guess that's fine.
Well, I guess I got.
Wait, where's her picture?
Oh, hello. Hello.
Aloha. Oh, you guys look so gorgeous. Thank you.
Thank you.
Oh, I love it. I love the white. Beautiful. Oh, they're so pretty. Of course, you know these girls always wear white, but still, you lot, you guys look great. Okay, I do have lots of questions, so let's go through this. So starting with you, Chandler, I put in your middle name because they, they need that in there. Your Social Security number. Okay, Chandler, for some reason your Social Security number didn't go in here. Could you give it to me again? To the next. Okay. It travel okay. Country. It's so funny. What is it with today? I've had three other people call me on an emergency that they're getting married today and don't have a marriage license.
Holy cow.
And I'm like, oh my God. Something in the stars. There's some confusion out there for sure. Okay, I think I handed everything. Let me process this and then I'm going to pull it up on the screen. Okay. Because we're going to review it. We got to make sure everybody's names are spelled correctly to that you have given me their email so they'll get it as well. But you will also have a copy in case there's any problems. You. You will have it as well. That's it. We're good to go. Do, do please double check it when you do receive it because everything on there, they're going to pull, pull from that to put on your certified copy of your marriage certificate which will come in the mail anywhere from 30 to 60 days. Okay.
All right.
Any questions? No. Thank you so much. We really appreciate your last minute help. You're. You're very welcome. Have a very blessed wedding day today. And you guys look beautiful. Thank you so much.
Still full of adrenaline from the last 24 hours. It was time she was coming down the aisle. It had all led up to this.
How'd they call me?
I guess you could call it chance. But we know it's more than that. It's like we've always been.
Man, this was crazy. Been together for so long. Planned this wedding and it was finally Time. Seeing her walk the aisle. I'll definitely be replaying that memory for years to come.
Sam.
Ocean of the ocean. Let's see the fish.
Oh.
Hands on your shoulders.
Hands to the.
Here we go. This is the fastest it's gonna go, so give it all you got. Ladies and gentlemen, the hooky lady, everybody.
I love you, too. As the train waves, gently blow your head. Oh, I love you, too.
Ladies and gentlemen, with this beautiful Saturday, please put your hands together for the newlyweds. We want to see you dance, and we also want to see a big kiss at the end. Okay, this one's for you. And you can dance normal, you can dance hula, you can freestyle, whatever you feel comfortable with. There you go, ladies and gentlemen, one more time.
Hey.
This guy.
Oh, he's got moves. He's got moves.
Your wedding day is going to go by so fast that you're going to blink, and it's going to be over. So if you're in the same situation where you're thinking about getting married, you're about to get married, or it's about to happen, definitely just enjoy the moment. Things aren't going to go right. Others are going to go perfect. But definitely just try and chill out and be present. Enjoy the time with your spouse and with all those around you that decided on that specific day that they would surround you with you and your spouse. And definitely don't try and do everything. Reach out to those around you. Delegate, because things are going to go wrong. But definitely having people around you that can help you, it's definitely going to take a lot off your plate. Shout out to the homies. They were like my little army. The day of the wedding, I was able to tell them what to do. They'd go run and get it done. And it took a lot off my plate. So I could worry a lot about the bigger things. And shout out to the wedding coordinator. He definitely took care of all the big things, but there's always going to be some stuff that slips through the crack. So definitely just enjoy the day. Eat the good food, eat the cake, and dance your hula day.
Hands.
But that's all I got for now, man. Peace. Hope you have a good wedding if you're watching this. Till next time, Louis. Signing out.
Hours trying to win your heart Trying to get to where you are. And I would live a million lonely lifetimes if I knew I could get back to you.
So I'm still trying to process everything that happened yesterday. It was kind of a go, go, go day. So this morning, Kind of trying to take it all in. And we have to start packing. I definitely wouldn't recommend having an international trip the morning after your wedding, but it was either this or spend a couple of days in Hawaii before starting our Japan honeymoon. So going to start packing up the car and head over to the airport. Hopefully we don't miss our flight.
Let's go to Japan. So I just got to the airport, about to board our flight to Japan. The guy would not let me because we have not booked our return flight back from Japan. So right now he says, according to their laws, I would need a visa because it shows that I'm going to stay more than 90 days. So right now I'm going to go buy two tickets on Ana. Once we get to Japan, I'll keep them and then try and book our return flight back from home, but we'll see how that goes. Stay tuned. If we're able to go to Japan.
So I was able to get back to the Hawaiian desk after not being able to book a flight at the kiosk for Ana. No idea why, but I was able to book a returning flight from Japan with Hawaiian Airlines desk. I'll probably cancel it once I get to Japan, but we are running low on time. So just gonna pay the two grand to book those tickets and worry about it later because we gotta catch this flight.
Just made it to an A. Had a run halfway through the airport. Let's see if I can buy book a return flight back.
So I didn't take much video. We had about 30 minutes to get on our flight. For some reason, TSA was super backed up because some of the lines were closed. We actually thought we were gonna miss our flight to Japan. Chan started crying, and luckily a bunch of people let us cut the line through the tsa. I just grabbed everything and we just booked it. Chan just left with her backpack. I had everything else. And they were essentially calling our names on the microphone, saying, last call, we're about to close the door. And we kind of came through the corner yelling at them. They led us on board, and so we made it on our flight to go to Japan. A very, very hectic start to our honeymoon. But hopefully it's nothing more than relaxing vibes for the rest of the trip. I guess we'll see.
