How knowing THIS could save you BIG MONEY in Hawaii

Luis Lan shares Hawaii money-saving tips: hit Aloha Stadium swap meet early for Hawaiian shirts ($10-15), then eat at a noodle factory for $36 shared. Skip traditional car rentals and use Turo instead, where a Porsche costs $80-90 a day versus $600 for a regular four-door.

Aloha. Aloha. $1 per person. How many? Two. That was.
Thank you. Okay. $1 per person is really nice.
Yeah, that's awesome. For all the bargains. Yeah. All right. All right. We are here to have fun. We are here to have a good time, but we are not here to go broke. So we're here today at the Aloha Stadium swap meet, where we will get most of our knickknacks and Hawaiian shirts and such because it's way cheaper than going to Waikiki and getting caught in the tourist traps. Go here to buy your knickknacks instead of downtown because downtown will be grossly overpriced. So I think right now, during COVID it's only on Saturdays, starting, I believe, around eight, maybe sooner. So we'll see how the day goes, see what kind of things we get into place. We found so far today, they're at D11. Not sure if they're going to be at D11 next time. The outside of their shop looks like this. Their Hawaii shirts and dresses are made out of rayon. Super nice, very affordable. We ended up getting four sets matching for 109 bucks, which not too bad for the material compared to everyone else's ongoing. All right, so for the shirts and the dresses, we found another store that sells it to. These were 10 bucks. So apparently 10 bucks. 10 bucks. I think $15 dresses. So if you find them and they're for more, there's another store.
It's not a bad price for any.
No, you can get them for 10. Just keep searching.
And you can bargain.
And you can bargain. So this. This place had them for 10 Hawaiian shirts. I think ladies dresses are 15 to 20. So just some helpful information for y'. All. Take number 2.5. We recorded it the wrong way the first time, so we got it down. Pro tips. Bring a backpack, sunscreen. If you're gonna get a hat, get it early because it gets hot. Right now it's 12. So come early because right now it's hot and the sun's right on you. I gotta let the people hear.
And water.
And water. Bring. Bring water.
Did you say sunscreen?
And sunscreen? Two sunscreens. All the sunscreen to get. Gonna get burnt. There's not too many food choices here. Get a hat. 10 to 15 bucks. 25 is too much. 10 for 15 Hawaiian shirts. Saw them for 10 to 15, depending if they're made in Hawaii, those were 15. If they weren't made in Hawaii, then they were 10 bucks. Then found some couples outfits for like 30, some a little bit lower, but they're 30ish. So get here early. Find some shade in the parking. Oh, and remember where you park.
Yeah.
Because there's a lot of cars and you can do the whole loop, but you'll kind of get disoriented.
What time did we get here?
Eight.
Eight. It's 12.
Yeah, 12. So you can do all of it. You can do the whole loop. So.
Yeah, take breaks. Get a coconut.
A big coconut. Shout out to the coconut man. It was 10 bucks, but he opened it for us, so.
And there was a ton of water in it. Got rid of my headache.
And coconut meat.
Yeah.
So don't get. Don't get the small ones right by the front. He's on the other side by himself. But.
And 1. If you get a big one, one might be almost too much for one person. Otherwise it might take you a long time.
So we split it, but that's about it for now. Gonna get some food, head home, and then probably to the beach later. So let's see where we go. Get some food.
It.
We went to John Wa Ka noodle factory. We went to the something something something noodle factory.
You're supposed to be turning. All right.
We went to Chun Wan Khun noodle factory or Blankety Blank Blank noodle factory.
Cheonhwa Khan.
Yeah, that noodle factory. Shout out to Gracie for helping us out.
We were definitely newbies and had a lot of questions. Yeah, she was very patient with us.
All right. And you. It's essentially like a Panda Express, but with better food. And they stuff your plate full of food, so that was nice. And then you can get, like, one starch or you can do half and half. Oh, gosh. And then you can get up to four sides, which is what we did. And we just tried a bunch. A bunch of different stuff. So we'll see how it is.
And now we are at a park. Gonna eat our lunch, and we'll let you know.
Yep. Yep. So for 30 something bucks. 36 bucks. Highly recommend. It was called the Manapua. So I've been told those. The pork one, the pork hash one was delicious. The curry chicken one, I liked the.
Curry chicken one the best. Luis liked the other one better because the bread was sweet, but I think that it was just, like, too sweet. I was looking for something a little lighter. And the curry chicken bread was not sweet. So that. I like that.
Yeah. And then the pork things. Those. Those were good. They. They could have. I guess they might. They might have some sauce if they had some sauce stuff that'd make them good. My favorite carb, I guess it would be starch. Would be the. The kimchi, surprisingly, the kimchi rice. That was the kimchi fried rice. The other. The other one, the green one, the ginger chicken.
It was really. It was good, but it was really gingery.
Yeah.
I liked the udon the best.
That was good. And the other noodle things, those were okay. The. The lemon chicken was not good.
It tasted like candy. And I only had one piece of it. The piece I had was kind of almost like, dry.
Yeah.
But the one Luis had was okay.
It was okay.
I was just.
Tasted like lemon pound cake. Like, that icing stuff that you put on that. So that was not. The fish was really good. All the. All the fish, surprisingly, was good. The sour. Sour one. Sweet and sour. That sauce on it. That was good. And then what else did we. The chicken. The other chickens were good.
I had that pork.
Oh, the little.
It's like a wonton wrap almost, but it's stuffed with pork.
And that was. That was okay.
It was fried. Yeah, it was okay.
But all in all, I'd give it one and a half thumbs up. Price. Price was two thumbs up, for sure.
I think I would give it okay. Today. I think I would give it a 7 out of 10. But I think if I was hungry, like, I knew today I wasn't that hungry. If I was really hungry, it probably would have been a nine.
Yeah, it was. It was really good. And we have, like. We literally still have a whole plate. Literally, like a whole plate left over for 36 bucks. I think that's.
Yeah.
And they stuff your thing full of food they're not shy of. Like, they don't skimp out, that's for sure. Yeah.
So I literally. I watched a lady, she put rice in, like, the styrofoam thing, and then she tipped it on its back and, like, shook it to kind of get it all, like, packed in there and then put more in and did it again.
Oh, dang. I didn't see that. So.
Yeah.
Yeah. Recommend highly bank for your buck. They got some. They got some sleepers in there, and I guess we're gonna have to go back.
There was a huge line when we were leaving. The strip mall that was in probably had, like, 10 restaurants. None of the other ones had a line. That one had a line, like, going.
Three streets stores down and the mana pool. We might have to go back and get some different ones. But, yeah, now we're probably gonna go into a food coma. And then see if we do anything else.
Rest for a little bit.
Yep. And go from there.
All right, we're on island time. No rush.
Peace. One map later. Food land. The Whole foods of Hawaii. 32 locations only in Hawaii. We'll see how good it is. Shout out to Bello for letting us borrow his car. Turo, definitely use that when you come here because car prices right now are outrageous. For a four door Nissan, it was 600 bucks. And through Turo, I was able to snag that porsche for like, 80, 90 bucks a day. So definitely plan it in advance and look into Turo for a rental car. So sadly, we're gonna have to give it back tomorrow. But stay tuned and see what car we get next.
