This is a YouTube video titled "Selling Consumables? Your 3PL Could Get You Shut Down" created in August 2025. It features a single speaker named Manish delivering a commerce brief focused on FDA compliance requirements for third-party logistics providers handling consumable products. The video emphasizes the importance of FDA registration and compliance to avoid severe penalties and business risks in e-commerce fulfillment.
Foreign. Welcome back to Kahoot Commerce Brief. If you're selling anything, consumable supplements, pet food, even flavored lip balm, here's a question. Is your three PLFDA registered? And more importantly, should it be? Because if you get this wrong, the penalties aren't just financial. They can shut you down. Here's the key insight. The FDA Food Safety Modernization act, or fsma, requires that every facility handling ingestible goods be registered. And that includes three PL warehouses. Yes. Even if you're the brand owner. Yes. Even if you're using a fulfillment partner. If your 3 PL touches a consumable product, they need to be registered with the fda. No exception. And here's the kicker. You are responsible. Not the three pl, not the software, not your supplier. If your warehouse isn't FDA compliant, your brand is the one in violation, and the FDA doesn't mess around. They can detain your shipments, confiscate product, and tank your customer trust overnight. Most 3 PLs will nod along and say, yeah, we've handled food before. But when you dig deeper, they haven't filed Form 3537. They haven't designated a U.S. agent for foreign owned brands. They're not prepared for an FDA inspection. And that's the problem. Fulfillment isn't just about speed and cost. It's about compliance. And if your 3 PL isn't locked in on the basics like registration, record keeping, and recall readiness, they're putting you at risk. This is why at Kahoot, we vet every fulfillment location in our network for FDA compliance when required. Because in E commerce, you're only as strong as your weakest warehouse. So here's the takeaway. If you sell consumables, stop assuming your 3PL is covered. Ask for their FDA registration, ask to see Form 3537. And if they hesitate, run. Compliance isn't optional. It's the foundation of trust, scalability, and staying in business. Thanks for tuning in to Kahoot Commerce Brief. I'm Manish. Until next time, ship smarter.
