This is a YouTube video titled "The Big Gap in ZigZag’s Return Strategy" created in August 2025, featuring Manish as the sole speaker. The content is a commerce brief discussing the limitations of the UK-based returns platform Zigzag Global, especially for US-based e-commerce brands, focusing on logistics challenges and the platform's lack of comprehensive return recovery strategies.
Foreign welcome back to Kahoot Commerce Brief. Let's talk about Zigzag Global, the UK based returns platform that promises to help brands cut costs, reduce carbon and improve customer experience all at once. But here's the reality. Zigzag's value is only as good as the region you're selling in. And for US Based e commerce brands, that value is razor thin. Here's the key insight. Zigzag was built for international retailers, especially those shipping into Europe. It consolidates returns, taps into local drop off networks and offers warehouse partners across 170 countries. Sounds impressive, but for US sellers shipping domestically or into North America, most of that infrastructure is irrelevant. Even worse, their actual logistics capabilities are limited. Zigzag doesn't own the warehouses. It doesn't handle inspection or recommerce. You're still responsible for restocking or liquidation. And that's a problem because if you're not rerouting returns to new buyers, you're burning money with every refund. You're paying for reverse shipping, for repackaging, and for writing off unsold inventory. The best brands today are using returns to drive retention and reduce waste. Zigzag gives you a tracking page and a digital portal, but it doesn't go far enough. There's no peer to peer recommerce, no way to resell returned goods before they ever hit a warehouse, no recovery strategy built into the platform. So if you're a UK based retailer doing big volume across borders, Zigzag might give you a boost. But if you're a US brand looking to actually solve the returns problem, not just put a glossy UX on it, Zigzag won't get you there. Returns are a logistics problem, not just a software problem. And if your provider can't move inventory smartly, not just label it, you're not cutting costs, you're just delaying them. Thanks for tuning in to Kahoot Commerce Brief. I'm Manish until next time, ship smarter.
