Mark MacLeod pitched leak-free underwear to mostly male investors in the early 2010s. Investors would realize what the product actually did, get uncomfortable, then pull a random woman from the hallway to validate the idea. The pattern repeated over and over.

Initial round of pitching was confusing is the best way to describe it. Had a lot of experiences. And this is when we would do everything in person as well. So, like, every pitch you would do in person, right? So I would go to Sandhill Road and, you know, the different spots and go from meeting to meeting. And I remember, especially in the early days, like 2013, 2014, without fail, every conversation went the same. I would enter into the pitch at some point within the first 60 to 90 seconds, the person across from me would realize what I was there to talk to them about, which was leak free underwear for women who, like, leak on their period and pee themselves a little bit. There would be a moment of horror, Mark. They would interrupt the meeting. They would go run into the hallway and grab whatever woman they could find.
