Clip from The Startup CEO Show featuring Josh Reeves (CEO of Gusto) advocating for founders to work with coaches for personal and professional growth. Reeves argues coaching is a strength and useful alongside self-reflection, boards, and executive teams; he uses sports (LeBron, Steph Curry) as analogies to normalize coaching at elite levels.

I think just shifting or had just shifted off of writing code still to being our main salesperson, our main marketer being really focused on all parts of running the business while my two other co founders were focused more on the engineering product side and so many many chapters in scaling and growing. I've worked with a coach which I think is a fantastic practice. My reminder to anyone out there if you haven't explored that concept, it's like you know LeBron James has a coach, Steph Curry has a coach. If you like basketball, name any sport. People at the best of their fields still have a chance to grow, learn, improve and so there's nothing weak about having a coach. It's actually quite the opposite to me. It's an amazing enabler to add another tool to the toolbox. Self reflection. Introspection is great. I leverage my board for growth, I leverage my executive team for growth and I think working with a coach is a great way to compliment all the above.
