When you start a company out of undergrad, you're definitely a byproduct of the ecosystem that you exist in. And I think the problem with a lot of tech ecosystems around the world is they're trying to emulate components of Silicon Valley. And the reality is Silicon Valley is unemulatable because of its scale and the sheer volume of people that have built interesting companies that are floating around that ecosystem. And why Combinator is like a black hole for that ecosystem. It's a center of gravity which attracts a lot of really amazing founders, both founders that have graduated from the program and founders that had nothing to do with it, but are willing to go and speak to YC founders specifically for the benefit of being able to invest in them.
