Governments Are No Longer Built For Today’s World

In this monologue, Mark Moss argues that contemporary governments are fundamentally misaligned with the realities of the modern, decentralized, AI‑enabled world. He traces the origins of current governmental structures to the Industrial Age, when mass manufacturing, large corporations, and centralized management required top‑down institutions to control the masses. Moss contrasts that era with today’s digital nomad lifestyle, where individuals can work remotely from anywhere, run small businesses, and leverage AI to perform the work of many people. He contends that as society decentralizes, Western powers such as the G7 and NATO respond with coercive policies that attempt to squeeze control, but this only drives people further away. Finally, he claims that traditional incentive systems, built for competition and mass production, no longer function effectively in this new environment.
