Welcome, dear listeners, to another episode of Living in Your Power. I'm your host, Marleen Greenleaf, and today we embark on a journey of self-leadership, a topic that is so close to my heart. Now, self-leadership isn't just a buzzword; it's a profound way of living. Authentically in your power. It's about taking control of your life, your decisions, and your destiny. So today I want to share my insight on this transformative journey. So what exactly is self-leadership, you may ask? Well, it's about becoming the CEO of your life, your thoughts, and your actions. It's about taking responsibility for your growth and success. Self-leadership is the practice of understanding who you are, identifying your desired experiences, and intentionally guiding yourself towards them. It spans the determination of what we do, why we do it, and how we do it. Now, the term self-leadership first emerged from organizational management literatures by Charles C. Manns, who later defined self-leadership as a comprehensive self-influence perspective that concerns leading oneself towards performance of naturally motivating tasks as well as managing oneself to do work that must be done but is not naturally motivating. Now, one of the foundational pillars of self-leadership is self-awareness. It's the ability to look within, understand your strengths and weaknesses, your values and your goals. It's the mirror that reflects reflects who you truly are. Now, self-regulation goes hand in hand with self-awareness because it's the art of managing your emotions, your impulses, and your reactions. It's about making choices aligned with your values even when it's tough. Motivation also fuels self-leadership. That's because it's what keeps you going when the going gets tough. Find your why, your deep-rooted reason to pursue your goals, and let it be your guiding star. Obstacles also are a part of the self-leadership journey, as we all face them. Now, what sets self-leaders apart is their ability to overcome challenges because you learn to embrace setbacks as opportunities to grow stronger. Now, as we wrap up today's episode, I want to leave you with this: you have the power within you to lead your life authentically. So embrace self-leadership as your guiding philosophy: walk by faith, remove fear, and live in your power.
