Well, hello, my valued listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Living in Your Power. I'm your host, Dr. Marleen Greenleaf, and I am thrilled to step into a brand new month with you. Now, we know March is Women's History Month, a time to celebrate the strength, leadership, and achievements of women throughout history and in our present day. So this month, our theme is Women Who Rise: Strength, Leadership, and Empowerment. And I have some exciting interviews lined up with phenomenal women. But today, we're kicking things off by looking at the history and significance of Women's History Month, the gains and impact women are making today, including my own journey, and how we continue to rise, lead, and empower each other. So let's dive in. Women's History Month is about acknowledging and honoring the contributions of women past, present, and future. It started as a one-week celebration in 1980 and expanded to a full month in 1987. But since then, every March we take time to reflect on the trailblazers who paved the way— women who fought for voting rights, led movements for equality, broke barriers in business, politics, education, and science, and made history-changing contributions that shaped the world. But let's be real. Women's history isn't just in the past. It's happening right now. Women are rising, leading, innovating, and breaking ceilings every single day. Let's talk about where women stand today. We are leading nations. The number of female presidents and prime ministers has increased significantly worldwide. We are shaping industries. More women than ever are CEOs, entrepreneurs, and trailblazers in business. We are advancing in STEM. Women continue to make groundbreaking discoveries in science, medicine, and technology. And we are amplifying our voices. From media to social activism, women are using their platforms to drive change. But we still have work to do. Equal pay, leadership representation, and gender equity are still battles being fought. The good news? Women are not backing down. We are seeing more women stepping into leadership roles, launching businesses, mentoring others, and unapologetically owning their power. So now let me bring this home. I talk a lot about empowerment, self-leadership, and resilience. Why? Because I have lived it. My journey has been one of growth, overcoming challenges, and continuously stepping into new levels of leadership. I built my business from the ground up, and I've empowered and coached individuals to live boldly in their power. And I've learned to trust myself, take risks, and embrace my calling as a leader. And here's what I want you to take from this. You are also making history. Wherever you are in your journey, be it as an entrepreneur, leader, student, mother, advocate, or mentor, know that you are making an impact. Don't wait for the world to validate your success. Own it. I'll say that again. Don't wait for the world to validate your success. Own it. So as we wrap up into this month of celebrating women who rise, here's what I want you to remember. You are part of history. So every step you take towards growth and success matters. Women are making incredible gains today, but we must continue pushing forward. Your journey is unique, powerful, and worthy of celebration. And here's my challenge for you this week. I want you to acknowledge a woman who inspires you and tell her, celebrate her. Own your impact. Share something about your journey that you are proud of. And step into your power. Set one bold goal for this month That challenges you to grow. As I said this earlier this month, we will be diving deeper into women's leadership, empowerment, and resilience, and I can't wait for the conversations ahead. I want to thank you for joining me today, and I want you to remember to live boldly in your power. And if it gets tough, just breathe. You still got the strength to rise. So until next time, dear listeners, stay empowered, stay inspired, and keep rising, and keep living in your power.
