Hedera cut its maximum staking reward from 6.5% to 2.5%, a decision made by its governing council of Google, Boeing, Ubisoft, Dell, and LG. The previous rate was unsustainable, the speaker says, and he's staking anyway.

Wow, some bad news for HBAR holders today. The maximum staking reward percentage has went down from 6.5 to 2.5. Now this was voted on by the HBAR governing council, which consists of companies like Google, Boeing, Ubisoft, Dell, LG, a bunch of huge monster companies, uh, which make up the Hedera LLC. So this has came down, the staking rewards. It sucks, but ultimately, you know, it is to keep the network sustained, right? 6.5 wasn't going to last forever anyways. So if you want to check out my tutorial on how to stake HBAR, you can just go and scroll back a few videos and I have a full tutorial on how to stake your HBAR. It's so easy. Do I care about this change? Absolutely not. I will continue staking my HBAR and literally making passive rewards in HBAR.
