FutureProof | Episode 6

Daniel Thompson was replaced by AI, then read Matt Britton's book Generation A.I. and landed a better job. The key: stop resisting AI and use it to make yourself indispensable instead.
No longer going to be AI that takes your job. It's going to be someone that understands AI that will listen. I'm not sure, Mr. Thompson, if you're going to be a great fit for us, I think I might agree with you.
You know, we've been trying to fill this role for a while. Maybe our expectations are too high, but we've yet to be dazzled by any candidate.
Hopefully, I can end that drought for you.
Well, your cover letter really stood out. Especially how you've thrown yourself into AI Research and development. To be honest, this entire company is reorganizing itself around this new great unknown. Not that everyone's gotten the memo yet.
You do not have to convince me. I watched it happen at my previous company, and I'll admit I wasn't as prepared then, but it taught me a valuable lesson.
Which is?
When a new tool's introduced, that starts redefining an industry. Don't run from it. You know, embrace it. Learn to work with it to better yourself. Well, that's good. AI Is clearly here to stay, and it can make you obsolete or indispensable. For me, it's an easy choice.
I appreciate that attitude.
I have a very clear idea of the deliverables you're expecting in this role. So if you're open to it, I'd love to do a test run, you know, and really show you what I can accomplish working with your AI Honestly, I'm ready to take the reins and run. Matt, I want to take a moment to thank you for your new book, Generation A.I. it found me at a low point right after I was effectively replaced by AI and reading your story and insights kept pushing me forward. It helped me turn the setback into a launchpad. I reinvigorated my career in a way I didn't even know I was capable of. And I just landed a new job in a higher position with clear growth potential. I feel more comfortable about the future I've secured for my family and much more prepared for helping my kids navigate AI successfully. I've come a long way, but your book was the starting point. I'll forever be grateful. With gratitude, Daniel Thompson. That's what I'm talking about. It.
