Matt Britton fed 25 years of his medical records into an AI system modeled on a Johns Hopkins doctor to predict his likeliest cause of death within five years. The bot gave him a blunt answer that alarmed him. He built it to maximize his lifespan, but discovered AI has no bedside manner.
I made the commitment that before I was going to use AI for my business, I was going to use AI to solve the biggest challenge I see, which is staying alive as long as possible. So I went through 25 years of personal health information. MRIs, X rays, blood test information, notes from doctors, anything I can get my hands on. And I pulled it all together. And with that information, I built my own personal health bot. I told it to act like a leading doctor from Johns Hopkins University, with the sole purpose of keeping Matt Britton alive. The first question I asked it was, if I'm going to die in five years, what's the most likely cause? It answered, and it freaked me out. Unlike a doctor that might care about bedside manner or hurting your feelings, AI does not care about any of that.
