Matt Britton argues that jargon in ad tech and business obscures what products actually do. Product managers need to strip everything down to one clear selling point so buyers understand it and products cut through the noise.
One thing that you learned was the importance of having a really simple story. Can you elaborate on that for us? Yeah. I just think there's so much jargon and buzzword, especially in ad tech. There's so many words that are so commonly used, but the marketplace really doesn't understand what it means. I think in order for people to really grasp what you're trying to accomplish, you really have to oversimplify. And I think a lot of product managers, a lot of entrepreneurs have problems sort of letting go with functionality that they feel is strong. But ultimately us as buyers, whether we're consumers or us as buyers in the business world can only comprehend so much. So I think going through the real hard exercise of distilling what is the real key, unique selling proposition of what you're offering and put everything else to the side is really what you need to do in order to break through in this cluttered world.
