Short keynote monologue predicting that televisions will evolve into interactive, tablet-like devices ("giant iPad"), merging TV and computer functionality. The speaker argues this shift will dismantle traditional TV networks and replace them with individual creators and celebrities who control audiences via platforms like YouTube, Apple TV, and Amazon-connected TVs.
Apple's also going to be turning the TV into a giant iPad hanging on your wall. The future of the TV is going to look a lot like this. Kids go up to TVs and they try to swipe the TV. They think you should be able to swipe it. And one day you're going to be able to the TV and the computer very soon. Apple just announced they're selling TVs, actually physical TVs, as did Amazon. And those TVs are going to be connected to devices. And when the TV and the computer are one, TV networks are going to no longer exist. So why Apple TV looks like this today, where you can actually go to a network, right? Like Showtime or HBO or mtv, right? Tomorrow it's going to look like this. The networks are going to be people because people are actually have all the power right now. Celebrities have followers in the tens of millions. They are networks on their own. These people are getting the money because they have the eyeballs. TV networks don't anymore. And they're building it over platforms like YouTube.
