31% of breaches exploited technical vulnerabilities, but 62% involved human risk, up from 60% last year. AI will amplify both types of attacks, making it harder for security teams to defend against the surge in incidents that combine technical and human exploitation.
Chapters
The latest cybersecurity data shows 31% of breaches exploited technical vulnerabilities, and that's the biggest vector of attack. It also shows 62% of breaches included some element of human risk, and that's up from 60% last year. And what we're going to see is as AI gets used by the attackers, We're gonna see many more technical exploits because the latest AI models are really good at not only detecting vulnerabilities, but creating the subsequent exploits to take advantage of them. But equally, AI is really good at taking advantage of cognitive and behavioral vulnerabilities in people. So as we move forward, it's not gonna be about what percentage attacks are focused on human targets versus technical vulnerabilities, it's really gonna be about the elevated quantity of both. We are going to see so many more attacks in both areas, cybersecurity is gonna have a difficult challenge in keeping up.
