Quantum computers will eventually break today's encryption, but it won't cause societal collapse. The industry is already preparing quantum-resistant algorithms for the transition as quantum capabilities advance.

Quantum computing, busting encryption in the next few years, underrated or overrated?
So that's a trick question. Why would you throw that in there? You know, computing can undermine encryption. It's all a matter of time. Given the quantum capabilities of computers, when they get to a certain error-level correction level and qubit capability, They absolutely will be able to decrypt the types of encryption that are predominantly used right now. But the fear that the world is going to fall apart, I think, is completely overrated. I believe that there's already mechanisms in place and moving forward to, as technology is advancing, where we get towards that cliff, we will begin shifting away from those algorithms that are most susceptible to more quantum-resistant ones.
