In this solo vlog, Matt Young introduces his weekly Sabbath “Word of God” video series, centering on Romans 12:2. He explains the verse’s call to avoid conforming to worldly standards of success—money, fame, and material possessions—and instead pursue transformation through the renewal of the mind. Matt shares his personal story of learning that external achievements do not bring happiness and argues that conforming surrenders the spiritual gifts God gave at birth. He outlines his daily practice of dedicating the first part of his morning to God, emphasizing that giving time—rather than money—is the most valuable offering. Matt stresses that true renewal comes not just from speaking to God but from listening, asking God what He wants and how to represent His kingdom. He encourages viewers to adopt this habit, promising that consistent, attentive time with God will lead to a more fulfilled, successful life as defined by God’s purpose.

Hey guys, thanks for tuning back in. I'm Matt Young. You know, recently on the podcast that I launched probably 3 or 4 years ago, I dedicated a section of my podcast to always releasing a word of God on the Sabbath day of every week. And I think it is very important to do so here on Matt Young Live as well, except for this is much different than a podcast. It's gonna actually be a video vlog. Basically, like most of the videos are. And today I really want to talk to you about something, and it's a verse that I've pretty much lived a lot of my life by. And it's Romans 12:2, where in the Bible it says, "Be not conformed to this world, but yet transformed by the renewing of your mind. That way you know what the perfect work and will of God is." And what that really means for me, and what it should mean for you, is how many of you are conforming? to society today so you can fit in? How many of you are actually conforming to basically paying attention to the media and listening to what the media tells you you need to be successful? This kind of backtracks to my story to where when I was growing up, you know, I was taught that money, cars, the house, fame, all that would give you happiness. And in fact, I learned at a very young age that it did the opposite. You see, when we're conforming, we're actually Giving up our spiritual gift that we've been endowed with since birth. You know, God also says in the Bible, "Your gift will make room for you." And I'm going to ask you something: How many of you really feel like you've conformed to society? You feel like you're doing something that you don't want to do on a daily basis, but because it's what the definition of success is, you feel you must do it. And I'm going to tell you right now, the only way you're ever going to be quote unquote successful in life, which is Truly having your health and your wealth, because God wants your cup to runneth over. The only way you're going to get that is to be transformed in the renewing of your mind. Well, Matt, how do I transform and how do I have the renewing of my mind? It's by spending time with God daily. You know, one of my main things that I do every single morning is whether it's 10 minutes or sometimes an hour, I give the first bit of my day to God. I don't think it's so much that you have to know Exactly what you need to do. It's more of giving the most valuable thing that you've ever been given on earth, and that's time. It's not money. Health is important, but the thing that you don't know you have the amount of left is time. It's the only thing. So when you give your time, when you sacrifice your time and say, God, I just want to spend it with you this morning, as opposed to making plans and then asking God to bless those plans. Things change. You see, most people will say, well, I do that, Matt. I pray in the morning. Yeah, you probably pray. You get down on your knees or you sit in a quiet space, and, and all of a sudden you talk, talk, talk, talk, talk, and then boom, you think you're done. And as soon as God goes to speak, you're already gone. I'm gonna ask you this Sabbath day to not only spend your time with God, but to listen. It's really, again, not about what you do with that time as long as you're giving Him the time. And more than likely, probably for your first few times, just sit there and just say, Father, what do you want from me? What do I need to do to be more of a representative of the Kingdom of Christ for you? And you just watch how day by day this little step will make your life a better way. Thanks for tuning back in with us. We'll see you soon.
