Matt Kelly explains why "all homes have mold" misses the point. Ambient mold spores are everywhere, but toxic molds from water damage produce mycotoxins that cause chronic illness, cognitive issues, and cancer. They hide behind walls and under floors, often invisible.

Q and A, Number five is. It's not really a question, but it's a comment I need to address now. I have to address it. Usually with the people that are looking for a reason not to do what needs done to deal with their home. Here it comes. Well, all homes have mold, okay? If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, I'd be a very wealthy man. Okay? So it's not a question, but it's something I have to address. So all. All homes have mold? Well, yes, they do. All homes have. Every breath you take, whether you're indoors or outdoors, you're going to be getting mold from somewhere. You're going to be getting mold spores. What we're concerned about is toxic molds. Again, you know what I mean when I'm saying toxic molds. Back to Q and A. Number one, if you want to know what I mean there, what I mean is molds that emit toxic mycotoxins that are nephrotoxic, hepatotoxic, immunotoxic, teratogenic, estrogenic, carcinogenic, okay? This is what we're scared of. Common molds aren't spitting out poisonous toxins, okay? If you have water damage, if you had a slow leak in your house somewhere, or if your dishwasher had leaked and water went to the back of the dishwasher and then under the edge of the floor and it's going above the subfloor and below your laminate and went under the drywall and hit that bottom plate and it's creeping up the back of that drywall. That's not normal. Those aren't normal molds because that's going to be very likely a mold that's emitting toxic mycotoxins that affect your body horribly. So when people are mold sick, it's not because they're breathing in common molds that aren't emitting mycotoxins and aren't toxic. It's because they're breathing in mycotoxins from dangerous molds that have made a home in your home. And this is for another Q and A, but where are these molds? They're usually not obvious, okay? They're under floors, they're behind walls. You know, they're especially behind showers and down below toilets, hidden places. You know, most people tell me my home doesn't have mold because they don't see a black or green wall growing up, okay? And I get it. They have a nice house, and it's not their fault. It's because the Humidity was too high, or they had a water leak or there was a leak before they moved in and they didn't know it, you know, from previous owner. So, yes, every home has mold, but no, not every mold or, excuse me, every house does not have toxic molds emitting possibly extremely high levels of literal, literally poisonous mycotoxins. And that's what matters. That's why it's a big deal. That's why we have inspectors. That's why remediation, and that's why it flattens people's health. That's why it flattens people to be bedridden and breast cancer and their brain fog and memory gone and sore joints. All these things. That's not normal. If everyone. Well, everyone. Every house has mold was the truth, everyone would be in horrible shape. But that's. You know, I understand people want to feel like their house isn't worse than anybody others. It's natural. But that's not what we're comparing apples to oranges, okay? We're concerned about molds that emit toxic mycotoxins that can literally kill people. So that was over three minutes. Okay? But I had to address it because that's something that everyone, not everyone, a lot of people say when they're trying to find a way to not deal with it. And I don't want to deal with it either. It's expensive, it's time consuming, it's awful job. But that's why mold sucks.
