Can fogging permanently clean items?

Matt Kelly explains that fogging can't permanently clean porous items like fabric and drywall. Cold fogging works for maintenance, but hot fogging at the end of remediation is more effective. Heavily molded porous items should be thrown away.

All right, Catherine's got a very well worded question here. I've never been asked this before, so I like it. She says, do foggers work to permanently kill mold on household goods and furniture, etc. So first of all, you got to figure out, are you using a cold fogger or a hot fogger because they both work differently. Are you cold fogging with Decom 30 or EC3 or different solutions because each has a different way they work and will have a different effect. I never count on fogging for killing something on household goods or furniture permanently. The other issue is that it's only affecting what it's touching. So if you are fogging around your couch and it lands on your couch, can it denature the mold and mycotoxins that it touches? Yes. But are there 10 trillion other ones just below the surface? Likely. So does fogging your couch fix the couch permanently? No. All right. And about household goods, I would be cleaning, you know, pots, pans, you know, things that are steel, metal, plastic, sealed wood. Those things can be cleaned a lot easier and would be a more permanent solution. But things that are fabric based and cushions and things that can get deep in fogging can help with the outside layer, but it's not going to be a permanent fix for that. So that's why if you have a moldy home or with really bad molds or mycotoxins and concentrations, then you have to seriously consider getting rid of some of those more porous and fabric things. But it does it. The right time for fog is like a hot fog at the end of remediation. Okay, you've cleaned the house, everything's been done, everything's been removed. You've done the fine particle cleaning, so the house should be clean. And then you fog just to get everything that's still in the air kind of thing. And then the cold fogger I like for maintenance. So your house is clean, everything you know of has been removed and you just walk around in cold fog once a month or every two months or something just for maintenance. But no, they're not going to permanently clean items. Hope that helps.
