Can mold cause the hard blinking in our child?

Short YouTube Q&A in which Matt Kelly (the “Mold Man”) answers whether excessive blinking in children can be caused by mold toxicity. He says yes, linking mycotoxin-driven inflammation or autoimmune reactions affecting the basal ganglia (PANS/PANDAS) to motor tics like blinking, and recommends addressing household mold (ERMI testing) and gut and mold-treatment protocols.

Lisa asked, can excessive blinking be a sign of mold toxicity in our children? So, yes, it absolutely can. This is common, a common tick in pans or pandas. Just meaning that the basal ganglia is inflamed either directly by mycotoxins or. Or through autoimmunity caused by the immune going. Immune system going haywire due to the mold toxicity in the home. Also, as the gut gets wrecked by mold and mycotoxins, that gets leaky. Gut, food sensitivities, food allergies, autoimmunity can happen after that. And when. If autoimmunity is turned on and it goes against the gut, we call it Crohn's colitis. I shouldn't say we medical doctors call it Crohn's or colitis. When it goes against the thyroid, we call it Hashimoto's. When it goes against the basal ganglia, we call it pans or pandas. Pandas having strep as a common trigger, but not a cause. So, yes, the basal ganglia can. When it's inflamed, it can affect cause motor and verbal tics. So motor tics would be, you know, like shoulder shrugging or head turning or the blinking. With our daughter, with one of our girls, she had throat clearing. So. And I didn't realize at the time, but after I picked up what was going on, but she had constant throat clearing. So that can be one, too. But the eyes is definitely a problem. When you have that constant blinking and both eyes kind of blinking hard sometimes like that, it's a sign that things are inflamed. And can you fix that directly? Well, you can add in your, you know, your fatty acids, get your omega 3 and maybe some phosphatidylcholine and serine and have some healthy fats and things to try to help build a buffer. But it all comes down to the air. My question, if you came to me as a client, I would say, what's your ermi say if you haven't run an ermi, I'd make sure you ran it properly. 100 plus touch points in the home, high and low baseboard, everywhere, in every room of the house. Because we want to know, why is this still going on? Because kids, even with pans and pandas, when you get them out of a moldy environment, put them in a clean house and on a good mold and gut protocol, those things start backing off. So if you've moved and you're still seeing that, I would question what the ERMI looks like and what your protocol looks like Hope that helps.
