Do I have to get rid of everything if I have Stachybotrys?

Matt Kelly explains that you don't automatically have to throw everything away if you find Stachybotrys. Localized contamination can often be remediated with containment and air scrubbers, then tested to confirm it's safe. Widespread contamination might mean discarding porous items like stuffed animals, but severity and location determine what stays.

Oh, Terry just said the S word. Stackybotrys said. Terry asked. I've heard in mole groups it's almost impossible to remediate a home and items within from stacky. Is there truth to this or is it overblown? If you have really bad stachy, you're in trouble with your, like if it's in multiple places and concentration is high, that's really bad. Okay. You're going to make some tough decisions on things you want to keep or not. And a lot of make sure your remediation team is really good, understands the health impacts of it and you have an inspector that's going to do post remediation like before everything gets put back together, testing to make sure it's gone before you spend all that money putting it together. Because if it's not all gone and it starts again, you got to pull all that remediated work apart. We're talking big bucks. Okay, so is there any truth to this? If it's, if it's stacky is bad, but if it's located to one area, say, you know, it's under the vanity in our bathroom and I've got a good remediation team in and the bathroom sealed off and the cold air intake and register sealed off and we got. Oh, come on, work with me brain. We got an air scrubber. Wow, that was scary. Have we have an air scrubber going to the window. We got the proper air pressure controls in place and they deal with everything. Right. And you get rid of stacky, you're going to be okay. So it comes down to how much stacky do you have, how contaminated is the home, is it localized? And do you have a team that knows what they're doing now fixing your stuff? That's another whole topic of cleaning your stuff. Because if you got stacky and a bunch of stuffies and stuffed animals, you know, I would get rid of the stuffed animals. So it comes down to what it is, how bad it is, and what are your cleaning processes. So is it possible to clean? Yes. Can it be so out of hand that you got to make some tough choices? Absolutely. All right, I hope that helps.
