How do I make my family understand my illness?

Matt Kelly advises Melissa on getting her family to take mold illness seriously. He recommends functional labs testing for ochratoxin A and directing skeptical relatives to PubMed research. He describes mold-sensitive people as canaries in the coal mine, sharing how his own son and clients have dealt with the condition.

Melissa's asking a question here that she shouldn't have to ask and frustrates me to no end, but not as much as it does Melissa and people that are affected by mold toxicity and have mold illness. But the question is how to prove to others that this is a real issue. You. How can I word this? You shouldn't have to prove that you're sick when you're sick. The question, everyone should be rallying around you to help find the root cause so that you can be helped and get through this. Right? And I guess I would say for first thing is if they don't believe you is just run some functional labs to get, you know, black on white. Like, maybe some people will understand if they see on a lab that your ochratoxin A is high and then send them to PubMed and say, go type that into PubMed and see how awful it can be. But I mean, my sold 99% of my clients are all mold sick. This is a real thing. Our family went through this. My son went through this. Go to healthy. Send your family to Healthy Youngman.com where they can watch the trailer for our documentary on mold illness. It's a real thing. We have labs that specialize in this. We have doctors that specialize in this. We have functional practitioners like myself that help people around the world just with this. So it just blows my mind that some people have a hard time believing that this is real. We get the labs that have the data on there. But more. More important than anything is just you saying how you feel because many people that are mold sick can tell when they are in a mold sick house, mold affected store. You know, you become canaries in the coal mine, right? So you know better than anyone what's affecting you. I'm sorry, you just want to reach out and touch some of those people in a special way sometimes, don't you, to make them understand. I'm sorry you're going through this, though, because that is awful to not have support when you're going through something awful like that. Oh, I'll also post the link with this video to a video I made on cross contamination. And it sounds like it's just about cross contamination, but it's more about. It's built for people to understand how sensitive some people are to mold. Okay. And it's kind of. It should be helpful to share with family to have them see me explain how sensitive people can be and give examples. Maybe they'll accept that and come to understand you and your state a little bit better. But Melissa, I hope they come around. I hope they will be part of your support system rather than a stressor to your system. If I can help in any way, reach out. Let me know.
