Take zinc in the middle of a meal, after eating half your food and before the second half, to reduce nausea. Pair it with modest magnesium doses, which work together with zinc but can cause loose stools if you overdo it.

The best way that I've found with myself and with patients is to take the zinc halfway through the meal. So that literally means eat half of your food, take your zinc, eat the other half of your food. So it's digesting with the food and it has less chance to get stuck to your stomach lining and make you very, very sick. The other cofactor that goes with arginine and zinc is magnesium. And magnesium's generally very well tolerated by the body, but if you take too much, you can get loose stool. So again, sort of a digestive effect, but generally speaking, we keep the doses fairly low anyway, just enough to help out the arginine as it goes along.
