Matt Kelly explains that fogging doesn't replace mold remediation but can reduce airborne toxins after cleanup. Hot fog hangs longer and needs three to four hours to work, while cold fog has shorter residence time. He recommends Haven for hot fog and EC3 for cold fog.

Jill's asking if fogging is effective. And my first question would be effective at what? Is it active at replacing remediation. And you just get someone in that's going to fog and that's going to fix all your problems. No, it is not. Is it effective at tempering the problem, lowering the stress in the home? It can be. Is it? Is dry fog effective? Is wet fog effective? Dry is the same as hot fog. Cold is the same as wet fog. It gets confusing, doesn't it? Right. But fogging is great. I love fogging. Some people say fogging is horrible idea. Don't ever do it. There's nothing wrong with fogging. It comes down to what your use is. What are you trying to do? If you're using it because you're in a moldy house, you can't get out, or you're waiting for remediation to start? Absolutely. Fog to help lower that toxicity some, you know it's not going to fix it. It's going to come back, but it can help. So why wouldn't you do it? I mean, it can get expensive depending on whether you're hiring someone or you're doing it yourself or the cost between a dry fog or a wet fog. Very different. I like Haven for a hot fog. I like EC3 for a cold fog. You've cut. One's cheaper, one's easier. One hangs in the air for hours, one doesn't. One you have to leave the house, one you can stay there. So there's a lot of variables. So fogging, the other instance for fogging, so you've got, as a temporary band aid, lower the stress while we're in there until we move out or until we get remediation done. Okay. The other instance for fogging is when you're done remediation. I like a good hot fog at the end. So say you got your basement remediated. And of course the basement air goes everywhere, so your whole house is affected by wherever there's a problem. But when all remediation is done and small particle cleaning is done, I like a hot fog in this space. Why? Because it helps deal with the air. You know, I hope you had windows open and do an air exchange, getting toxins out and everything. But doing a final hot fog and letting that fog sit in the air for three, four hours is a great tool. And then do a wet wipe after that and boom, there you go. So it comes down to what does effective mean? Comes down to what your use is. You got hot fog, cold fog. When you're doing it while you're doing it. But. Yeah, I hope that wasn't too confusing, Jill, but I hope you got some good out of that. I hope that helped.
